I have a dear friend of mine who is in the entertainment business, a profession that was not expected based upon what he studied in college. I one day asked him how he had the career he did and he said that all he did was to look for and take every opportunity that presented itself to him. Right now I can tell you that I want to work with people whose voices are not heard and fight against systems, institutions, and social relations that oppress and harm. I would love to go to graduate school and get a PhD and study relationships between men and women in underdeveloped communities around the world, but in order to get there, I need to stay focused, keep an open mind, and take every opportunity that presents itself to me. And doing those three things is exactly how I am here today as a Chester Community Fellow. It is a goal of mine to follow this method in order to do what makes me happy and do what fascinates me most, which is working with people and studying their ways of life.
